African Student Union (ASU) is a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) committed to the cultural, economic, intellectual, and political awareness of the African continent.
ASU was founded in 2000 by a small group of students in an effort to establish a community for Africans on the University of Louisville (U of L) campus and Louisville community. We are the Louisville community for students from Africa, connected to Africa, or interested in Africa and anyone looking for lively debates, cultural shows, music, and African cuisine will always find a welcoming home at ASU. By working together as a collective, ASU has had the opportunity to organize, host and sponsor various educational seminars, cultural and special events to build community and foster collaboration amongst African students and those interested in Africa. As the largest African student organization in Kentucky, we strive to encourage awareness of Africa within our U of L community, the greater Louisville-Metro area, and the entire commonwealth of Kentucky.
We are grateful for our membership base, event volunteers and generous sponsors, who are dedicated to supporting cultural diversity in Louisville.
